Mommy & Me

Observing the bond between does and their kids brings me great joy. For the record, I do not wean babies (except bucklings who need to move to the buck yard, and kids that leave the ranch). I only bottle feed the youngest youngsters on milk test day. I do separate older kids overnight so I can milk their moms in the morning, then everyone is together for the rest of the day. It’s likely that my milk test numbers suffer due to this arrangement. But seeing the way moms and their babies interact is so precious! Some say bottle babies are more people-friendly. But since I can’t keep my hands off the kids and I spend time with them every single day, they seem to think I’m their other mom, regardless of not bottle feeding. Such wonderful creatures!
